That's right! It is already time for another monthly Bright Ideas Link Up! This month my post is a quick one about how I store and charge electronic devices in our classroom. In addition to the two classroom computers that we are supplied with, our classroom also has six Chromebooks and six Kindle Fires.
All of these devices need to be stored and charged on a regular basis in order to keep them up and running.
I didn't want to go buy a bunch of materials, so I made due with what I had. My first option is stacking letter trays. I added a little bit of hot glue to make sure that they stayed together, then zip tied the charger cords through the slots on the sides. This way, students slide the Chromebook into place and plug it in.
This is my preferred method, but students sometimes have a difficult time pluggin the Chromebook in with the letter trays.
Our other option is placing the Chromebooks upright on their sides in plastic magazine holders. While this doesn't have the same aesthetic appeal for me, it is a lot easier for my students to properly plug in their devices as the cords are zip tied right on top for easy access.
Either of these methods require very minimal prep and have lasted us the whole school year, which is saying a lot when they are used daily by ten year olds!
